Hello February! Happy Amethyst month!
Amethyst belongs to the family of quartz alongside, smoky quartz, citrine, rose quartz and prasiolite quartz (also known as green amethyst).
Amethyst is mostly known for its color, varying from lilac to purple, reddish-purple and bluish-purple.
The name “amethyst” derives from the Greek amethystos, which means “a remedy against drunkenness”. Traditionally it was worn for its sobering effect on overindulgence and physical passions, supporting sobriety. It overcomes addictions and blockages of all kinds.
Amethyst is extremely beneficial to the mind, calming or stimulating as appropriate. Mentally, it helps you feel less scattered, more focused and in control of your faculties.
This crystal helps to balance out highs and lows, promoting emotional centering and grounding. It dispels anger, rage, fear, and anxiety. Alleviating sadness and grief, it supports coming to terms with any kind of loss.
